Mrs. Autumm M. Jeter
Position:
Principal of Glen Oaks Elementary School

Mrs. Jeter is the Principal at Glen Oaks Elementary School. Before serving in this position- she was Assistant Principal at Fairfield High Preparatory School. Mrs. Jeter received her B.A. in History Education from Talladega College and her M.A. in History Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Purpose

The Fairfield Alternative Center is a placement of students who have violated the policies, rules, and the Fairfield Board of Education Code of Student Conduct guides.

Expectations

The faculty and staff of the Fairfield City Schools will work to help each student to stay on course in their academic subjects and assist them, through intervention and counseling programs, to improve their behavior.
The students are expected to attend class with required supplies, respect the administrator, teacher, each other, and themselves. the rules and procedures are designed to provide a safe and orderly environment where teachers can teach, and students can learn and improve their behavior.

Transitions from Home School to Alternative Center for Education

The ACE can accommodate 15 students at a time. Students are to be assigned for periods of 4 weeks, 9 weeks, or 1 semester depending on the severity of the violation.

The following information should be sent to Dr. Anthony Greene's office before each student arrives at the ACE.

  • Alternative Center for Education Referral Form
  • Parent Notification Letter
  • Hearing Information (must be conducted)
The following information should be sent to Mr. Mack or Ms. McDowell before the student arrives at the ACE Center.
  • Alternative Center for Education Referral Form
  • Parent Notification Letter
  • Copy of Student's registration or emergency care card
  • Copy of student's schedule
  • Teacher's lesson plans, and students assignments

Home School Responsibilities
Each school must send the following with each student:

  • Textbooks
  • Assignments
Students' Responsibilities
  • Arrive at 8:00 a.m.
  • Once student arrives on campus, they must enter the building immediately.
  • Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. will be signed-in by a parent or the parent will be notified by the school.
  • Bring school supplies: paper, pencils, pens, notebooks, etc.
Dress Code
  • Fairfield City Schools dress codes will be strictly enforced.
  • Pants will be on the waist with the shirt tucked in.
  • Jewelry is not permitted except for a watch and girls may wear one set of earrings.
  • Unauthorized jewelry will be taken and held for the parent.
  • No hats or do-rags allowed.
Behavior
  • Students are expected to follow the Fairfield Board of Education Student Code of Conduct.
  • Intervention strategies will be used for each student and a Functional Behavioral Analysis will be written according to the student's referral for the Alternative Placement.
  • When disciplinary actions are necessary, the parent/guardian will be notified to discuss the child's conduct and appropriate intervention action that may be used.
  • Students will be escorted to the restroom and water fountain.
  • At no time will a student be allowed in the hall without a teacher's permission or a hall pass.
  • NO Profanity
  • If a student leaves school without permission, the parent will be notified and must attend a mandatory conference.
  • A second occurrence of leaving school without permission will be considered as a Class III offense.

Transition from ACE to Home School

  • Schools will be notified 1 week before the student returns to Home School.
  • An exit letter, a parent/guardian and grades will accompany the student returning to home school.
