Principal of Glen Oaks Elementary School

Mrs. Jeter is the Principal at Glen Oaks Elementary School. Before serving in this position- she was Assistant Principal at Fairfield High Preparatory School. Mrs. Jeter received her B.A. in History Education from Talladega College and her M.A. in History Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Q: What information must new Students have to register?
A: New Students require the following:
  1. (2) Proofs of Residence
    • Current Lease or Tax Card- and
    • Current Utility Bill or Valid Alabama Drivers License/Valid State Issued ID.
  2. Birth Certificate (Original - Grades K-1)
  3. Social Security Card
  4. IMM-90 Immunization Form
  5. Unofficial transcript (Grades 9-12). Final report card or grade report for current school year (2003-2004) for grades K-8.
  6. Legal Documentation for Custody/Guardianship- (COURT ORDER) if applicable.
*If a parent or custodial guardian is living with someone else- the parent/guardian must also provide two (2) proofs of residence - driver's license- name on lease- paycheck showing address on W2 form.

Q: What is the Fairfield Board of Education's Policy on Gifted / Talented Referrals in Special Education?
A: As a part of its commitment to serve students with special needs- Fairfield City Schools encourages inquiries about its Enrichment Program at high levels in academic or creative fields when compared to others of their age- experience- or environment. these students require services not ordinarily provided by the regular school program. Students possessing these abilities can be found in all populations- across all economic strata- and in all areas of human endeavor. A student may be referred by teachers- counselors- administrators- parents or guardians- peers- self- or any other individuals with knowledge of the student's abilities. Additionally- all second grade students will be observed as potential gifted referrals using a gifted behavior checklist. For more information contact the office of Special Education.

Q: What is the Fairfield Board of Education's Uniform Dress Policy?

A:Statement of Policy: All elementary- middle- and high schools in the Fairfield City School System shall implement a mandatory uniform policy for all students beginning in August 1996.

Mandated Attire: K-12 beginning December 17- 1998.

Colors: Navy Blue- Khaki- and White

Dress Code: Solid white shirt with collar for boys and solid white blouse with collar for girls. Solid white shirt or blouse with school logo will be acceptable for special occasions only (e.g. School Spirit Day- field trips). Solid white undershirts must be worn underneath shirts and blouses. Solid powder blue or white shirts may be worn by high school students only. Shirts and blouses must be tucked in at all times. Turtlenecks or mock turtlenecks are allowed.

No sweatshirts or flannel plaid jackets may be worn in the school building.

Navy blue and khaki pants or knee length shorts (no sweat pants- shorts- denim or jeans). Girls may also wear skirts- jumpers- skorts- or capris.

Sweaters - Solid navy blue or solid white only (V-neck style- crew neck style- cardigan- sweater-vest are permissible).

Belts - (navy blue- brown- or black) must be worn with pants that have belt loops.

Socks - (navy blue- brown- or white) at all times. Girls may wear solid navy blue- white- or flesh tone hose or tights (no design- seams- or fish-nets). Socks below the ankle are not permissible.

Black- brown- white- and navy blue shoes with same color shoestrings. A shoe is defined as an outer covering that encloses the entire foot (i.e.- oxford- loafer- tennis shoe - heel and toe closed). Sandals and slip-ons are not allowed.

Roller Book Bags - may be utilized by Elementary students only. However- they must be housed outside the individual teacher's classroom.
Clear or mesh Book Bags - must be used by all other student. (i.e. Elementary- Middle- High School.)

Students new to the school system have one week to adhere to the dress code. Failure to follow the dress code will be treated as a violation of the Code of Student Conduct (1.04).

Q: What is the Fairfield Board of Education's Child Find Program?
A:Federal law mandates the establishment of a Child Find Program to identify all persons between birth and age 21 who may be in need of special education and related services. All persons referred will be contacted and evaluated by the Fairfield Board of Education or a coordinating agency. A statewide network allows parents to access needed resources. Q: What is the Fairfield Board of Education's Drug-Free Workplace Policy?
A: All local boards of education receiving grants from the federal government such as "Impact Aid"- must comply with the 1988 Drug-Free Workplace Act (35 CRF Part 85- Subpart Sections 85-615 and 85-620).
The Fairfield Board of Education certifies that it will abide by the guidelines as set forth in the 1988 Drug-Free Workplace Act.
