Fairfield City Schools: “A Hidden Educational Treasure of Excellence”

From the Desk of Dr. Anthony C. Greene-
Superintendent Fairfield City Schools

Please allow me to express my excitement- pleasure- and honor to serve as the superintendent of the Fairfield City School System. As the “keeper of the dream” for students of the city of Fairfield- I realize more than ever before why public education is so important. I pledge to you my dedicated service and genuine commitment to do everything within my powers to lead our school system in a manner that places the best interests of our children and the community first. Together- we all can look forward to excellence in education- opportunities for our children's success- and a wonderful future for our community.

The previous academic school year (2005 – 2006) was nothing short of Incredible for the students- faculty and staff of the Fairfield City School System. The list of accomplishment was astonishing as every school made AYP- all schools became fully accredited and every student- faculty and staff bought into the dream. As many might say- the proof is in the results and certainly- the Fairfield City School System was blessed with results.

The 2006-2007 academic school year will be filled with its’ own incredible points- as we the Fairfield City School System- “create a culture of excellence by developing high expectations.” Excellence in education is what we strive for every day and we (parents and teachers) must establish high expectations for ourselves and our students. Excellence in education is accomplished through the collaborative efforts of dedicated professionals- community cohesiveness- caring and involved parents- and students who are encouraged and afforded the opportunity to reach their potential. As we pursue the path of excellence let us not forget that it is imperative that we keep children excited about school- curious about the world around them and develop their love for learning. Through our collective efforts- we can create a culture of excellence as we help all children believe in their ability to achieve.

Please permit me to share with you our two year Vision statement (2006 – 2008):

Fairfield City School System will provide a world class education for all students and become one of the top twenty performing school systems in the state of Alabama. This vision will be accomplished by the following nine strategies:

  • Establishing and cultivating outstanding educational leaders;

  • Demanding high student achievement and school performance;

  • Providing students with a rigorously challenging curriculum;

  • Providing a safe and orderly learning environment for both students and staff;

  • Stabilizing the school system financials;

  • Giving support to every child to achieve to their full potential academically- athletically- socially- emotionally- and morally;

  • Networking with institutions of higher learning and other educational institutions in order to develop learning opportunities for students and staff;

  • Providing and maintain highly qualified teachers- administrators- and staff; and

  • Building a strong family- community- and business support for the Fairfield City School System.
